Team Pfeffer Funded by Aligning Science Across Parkinson’s
Suzanne Pfeffer’s collaborative team has been selected to join the Collaborative Research Network (CRN), powered by the Aligning Science Across Parkinson’s (ASAP) and The Michael J. Fox Foundation.
Together, this network is working to map the biological blueprint of Parkinson’s disease and accelerate the path to new treatments. Their recent work identifies convergent pathways linking LRRK2, GBA1, PINK1, and SNCA mutations in Parkinson’s disease and they will test how these mutations affect lysosomal stress and Hedgehog signaling in mouse and human brain. They will define cell type–specific vulnerabilities in regions underlying non-motor symptoms and generate the first PD-relevant proteomic, lipidomic, and phospho-lysosome atlas for human brain and blood, with the hypothesis that Hedgehog signaling loss contributes to both motor and non-motor disease.
