Pujuan Deng (Gao Lab) Receives Katharine McCormick Advanced Postdoctoral Scholar Fellowship

This award gives support for advanced postdocs pursuing faculty careers in academic medicine.

Her research focuses on uncovering the molecular mechanisms by which bacteria defend themselves against viral infection, with a particular emphasis on defense-associated reverse transcriptase (DRT) systems. She aims to discover and characterize novel DRT systems and engineer them into next-generation biotechnology tools and phage therapies.
