The Department of Biochemistry is within the School of Medicine on the Stanford campus in Palo Alto, California. San Francisco is to the north, and San Jose is to the south. Biochemistry is located in the Beckman Center on the 4th floor. See the arrow on the map below.

Two main north-south freeways link us to San Francisco , San Jose , and their airports: Interstate 280 and US Highway 101. Shuttle and bus service to Stanford is available from nearby airports. A commuter rail line, CalTrain (see map) also connects the Peninsula . Stanford's free Marguerite Shuttle connects with CalTrain and downtown Palo Alto .

From the Airports:

The San Francisco Bay Area is served by three major international airports: San Francisco , San Jose , and Oakland . San Francisco and San Jose are a little more convenient to Stanford University .

From San Francisco:

Take US-101 SOUTH (direction San Jose ) and follow the directions below.

From San Jose:

Take US-101 NORTH (direction San Francisco ) and follow the directions below.

From Oakland:

Take I-880 SOUTH (direction San Jose ) to CA-92 WEST (direction Half Moon Bay ) to US-101 SOUTH (direction San Jose ) and follow the directions below.

Directions from US 101:

Take the University Avenue exit to the west, toward Palo Alto / Stanford). As you enter the gates to Stanford the road will change names to Palm Drive . Continue on Palm Drive to Campus Drive , at the stop sign. Turn RIGHT on Campus Drive . At the fifth stop sign, turn right and Fairchild Science Building is directly in front of you.

Directions from Interstate 280:

Take the Sand Hill Road exit to the east (toward Palo Alto/Stanford) until Pasteur Drive . Turn RIGHT on Pasteur Drive . Turn right on Welsh Road . Turn left on Campus Drive . Turn left at the second stop sign. The Beckman Center is directly in front of you.
